Scratches on the dish

Hello guys, I have a question that I hope someone may be able to answer: I have got a 65cm dish, new but with some scratches on the reflecting surface cause by stupid seller packaging...in some spots the coating has gone.
Will it work well or will the scratches affect the signal quality? As I got it cheap I was wondering if it will be worth to put it up and try or ask directly for a refund...

    Thanks!!!

    Only dents are a problem.

Get some car touchup non-metalic spray. You can even respray it all colour of your choice. Then use finest wet&dry black sandpaper and take the shine off, or rub it all over with scouring power etc to make it matt.

I did one with non-gloss radiator spray paint recently.

That's really interesting...do you think a silicone spray would do the trick ?? I think there also is a tiny tiny dent somewhere, should I still give it a go before returning it? For the coating...should I only spray it on the damaged spots and then rub the shiny layer off - if it leaves any -?

    Thanks

Owatrol oil, which is colourless, is also an option - applied neat across the surface of the dish.

Any good hardware store should stock it.

Just painting a door at the moment owatrol oil is great stuff - you can use it to thin most oil based paints. I got it in that paint shop near Christchurch in Dublin.
