    ...confuse a boards.ie poster?

    Is the Mark Dooley who warns us regularly in the Sunday Independent and more lately the Irish Daily Mail that we are all going to be decapitated in our beds by the rabid Muslim mullahs operating out of the Mosque in Clonskeagh the same Mark Dooley who is John Henry Newman Scholar of Theology in UCD?

    Or are they two completely different people?

    Anybody know?

    typical of the sunday independent/daily mail brigade - commenting on situations they know little or nothing about save what they read on foxnews.com

    do you remember when dooley appeared on the late late show a couple of years ago? went on head to head with robert fisk. fisk totally humiliated him. if dooley wasn't such a twit, i would have said it was cringe worthy. however, it was actually hilarious watching his points, opinions and views being exposed as the shallow, gutless, puerile rantings that they are. dooley kept making false statements suggeseting all muslims hated the west etc - fisk just asked him if he'd ever spoken to a middle eastern muslim, or even visited the middle east. naturally, dooley hadn't.

    not to echo jon snow, but a lot of would-be journalists and columnists have little or no experience of the world they want to comment on. i think anyone who wants to be a foreign corr or anything like that should at least visit a couple of foreign countries, and should really do a stint in a slightly dangerous region. I spent a couple of months in the middle east in 1999, and it was the best thing I ever did.

    Just edited your post yamo; criticising a publication/person is fine as long as you remotely justify it with something... personal abuse isn't acceptable under any circumstances however.

    Given the subject and slant of this thread I'd like to remind all posters of the charter and rules about personal insults and abuse.

    I remember it well. In fact, I was reminded of it while watching the recent Kerry Mayo football final. :D

    And at least Mayo scored a few goals.

    No more. I won't risk a banning. I was just curious.
