    Hi Folks,
My Macbook Pro was a bold girl today. For *some* reason when I turned her on, she lost all my system icons from the top right of the screen.

I've got them back, but I had one which enabled me to lock the screen before I left her, to keep the nieces and nephews at bay, but I can't remember where on earth it came from. I've tried everything. I can't even remember what it looked like (talk about taking something for granted)!

Am I going mad, or is it a OS X feature? Where the hell is it?

    Cheers,
    S.

Go Keychain Access > Preferences > Tick "Show Status in Menu Bar" and that's how I got my padlock :D

And repair permissions using the disk utility. In my experience, one reason stuff like that disappears is that it's permissions are messed up.

    Anyway, it can't hurt.
