Try 7dayshop.com, shop4memory.com or pixmania.com. Probably all cheaper than what you were quoted or found out from dixons.

Komplette (komplett.ie) are failry cheap, they do a 2GB SD card for 44.50, which isn't bad.

Just checked 7dayshop.com, 2gb SD card is 17.25 sterling. I think shipping is 3.95.

Be careful with eBay - I got a 2gb Sandisk and it was a fake - great quality counterfeit but useless..

Here is a good link http://www.edzcity.com/sandisk/page1/page1.html

I have a 1Gb SD card on the way from 7dayshop for £9.99. I ordered a few items so the £3.95 postage is spread over these.

Just orcered my self a 2 gig mini sd. I'll stick that in my phone/mp3 player and the 1 gig from that in my camera. Lots of space :)

2 gig is £21 from 7 day shop inc delivery.

A year or so back I bought a good Minolta (almost) digital SLR from 7dayshop (well, it looks like a SLR but the viewfinder is LCD). I am happy with the purchase.

My 1Gb SD card as referred to in my earlier post (above) arrived and works just great. No complaints. It's not badged but I don't care who made it once it works!

I also bought a universal card reader for £3.99 in the same order - USB2.0 & reads xD cards too.

    7dayshop is the business.

Does anyone know what the transfer rate on 7dayshop's own memory cards is? If it was 80X or more I'd buy them rather than something branded.

    Their 2gb is £17.25 +3.95 delivery = £21.20 = €32 approx and does not quote speed. Next cheapest is 80x speed rated Daneelectric at £24.99 +3.95 del = £28.94 = €43 approx.

I would go for the 'branded' one for an extra tenner given that it is speed rated.

(By the way I see you have the Airis GPS -I bought the Airis T920E (€333) instead of the T920EF (€258) so that the 2 gig card would be included with maps all preloaded as I travel. It was hardly worth purchasing the card above for €43 and saving €32 taking into account the hassles of swapping countries when I travelled)

whay might i ask device do you have that operates at 80x? no digital camera or mp3 player uses that speed...nor can for the foreseeable future

The card isn't for that though, plus I didn't pay quite that much for the EF either. ;)

melekalikimaka, just doing some future-proofing. Faster cards are useful when shooting in burst mode, too. Plus I'm just curious.

how fast do you need anyway for a gps . anyway I thought the airis gps maps from were 2.07gb in total from the route 66 disk. does that not mean you need a 3gb.

Well, pixmania supplies an Airis package with a 2MB card and claims all the maps are installed on it, so I presume it does fit....

MB? how many maps are on it, 2?

Don't know exactly, I went for the cheaper option. It claims the maps for "Europe" are on it.
