This was a show on during the day, might have been a kids show. The start was an animated bard guy dressed like Robin hood, with a lute, they were all typical stories, hobgoblins, poor widows, orphan kids, heroes, etc. may have been fairytales?

Anyway, the end of the theme tune has been stuck in my head for 18+ years, went like "Sometimes there are tears, Sometimes there is laughter, but always a Happy Ever After.

Seem to remember a green background to the credits and 2 apple trees, think it may have been dubbed?

Any Ideas, its just annoying me a bit.

I remember it but not the name of the programme. I'll put on the coffee and find out by the end of the night. :)

I was thinking the same thing for ages but I dont know if
my memory is wrong or not.

When I think of the show you describe I get the image
of the cover artwork for Cat Stevens Tea for the tillerman
which is an album my father had when I was young
have a look......tress/man with robin hood type hat ???

I'm almost sure it was the robin hood character (almost the same) introducing the show which was a couple of different stories, set in medieval times I think. He would play a song at the end then. Ah no sleep for me tonight. :)

I vaguely remember that. The song started with him listing a bunch of aliases, didn't it? "In Germany I'm Johann, In Sweden I am Jan, something something something, In England I am John", or words to that effect. I think it was called The Storyteller.
