Film 4 on NTL

Is Film 4 not supposed to be free now? It says you have to subscribe to this channel on NTL Digital.

And I have to relate this story as well cos it f*cked me off big time.

I asked NTL phone sales was Film 4 free. They said yup. I have friends who couldn't get it so I asked were those issues resolved. 100% I was told.

NTL technician came on Monday morning. My girlfriend let him in. And one of the specific questions she asked was about Film 4. He said 'yeah, should be there'. She said 'should?'. Could you please check. He stopped and rolled his eyes. Then he stood inbetween her and the tv purposely blocking her view. Now, she isn't a moron. She said she could see him bring the main menu up, randomly scroll up and down.... and she said he didn't even attempt to click into the movies tab.

Told her it was there then hurried out.

Of course, it doesn't work. You can't even scroll into it when you're watching tv. You have to select it from the programme guide.

Now, that's annoying. But the technicians patronising and disingenious attitude p*ssed me off even more :mad:

NTL don't provide Film4 free on the basic digital pack - sick I know! You'll have to upgrade to the 10 Euro a month package or get a fta satellite system.

I have Film 4 on NTL digital, I have the basic package and the disney channels for the kids, but that's it.

NTL told me that Film 4 was definitely free on the basic package.

Did you ever have the movie package hshortt?

You need to have the Go Digital Max package.

nothing is free on cable

it is free on satellite though

So both the sales person on the phone and the installing engineer lied through their faces? :mad:

Although, the engineers just didn't give a ****e and would've said anything.

NTL minus 10 and we haven't even gone past the first week.

The box is now acting up. Channel tabs and menu appear but no tv picture. It only fixes itself when I pull the card in and out.

I upgrade to the NTL go digital pack last year, moving from the basic analogue package for the €10 extra.
So I am on the basic digital pack and get Film 4 movies no problem.

I have the €10 package and have never had the movies. I have Film 4 and it works fine.

When they said 'Basic' they probably meant 'No premium channels'. Not the €5 service.

I just moved into the apartment. I called them and they said that the €24.99 per month digital service definitely included Film 4 as it was now free in the UK.

Sad to say they most likely were telling porky pies. I'm near certain it is not available on that package. It's only an extra €5 to get it though.

I have the basic digital and have Film4 however my mate has the same package and doesn't...weird. We do have different decoders though, I have the old black pace box and he has the small pace one

1) NTL isn't NTL anymore so what is free in UK doen't count.
2) What's free in England is not much to do with its cost in Ireland.
