    Class trolling :D

This quote actually made me LOL:

"wtf? They were Presidents of the US which is a job that involves occasional slaughter, so that makes it OK? What if your job is "mastermind and spiritual leader of a major worldwide terrorist organisation"? Isn't that just as good an excuse?"

EDIT: LOL I presume 72hearts is you Daithio, I love the feeding....

"I also deplore death and human suffering of any kind. This explains why I am sorry for Osama's family and friends if indeed he has passed away, and why I hope he isn't in pain."

    Welcome back Jeff.

I am not surprised that thread got such a response. If an American (or from wherever) came into the boards politics or wherever forum and posted that it is a disgrace that the bloody sunday soldiers and commanders were being unfairly victimised they would get an equally outraged response from the moral police that live on the non-poker boards forums (even though there are a few here too).

Well said 5starpool - an absolutely stupid thread! I am always surprised at how much people like to jump on the anti-american bandwagon. I am a resident in the USA now and have met a load of really good people here and most of them do indeed feel strongly about what happened on 9/11 and most do not support Bush's foreign policy. What response did you expect? Why not go onto a Jewish forum and talk about respecting Hitler?

And I don't know why he's so protective of Clinton. Not sure he didn't save more lives? What about East Timor and Palestine and the Sudan missile attacks? He bypassed congress to sell arms to Indonesia against East Timor; screwed the Palestinians in the Camp David debacle, and bombed civilian targets in Sudan. And that's only a taste. Not very admirable at all.

I suppose we have slightly different senses of humour. I'm sorry if it offended anyone, I kind of thought it might, but some others did find it funny too. I can understand why it may offend people, but I suppose I'm just not that easily offended. It was mainly harmless needling, and I fully understand that it was concerning a very serious issue, but I'm of the opinion that even serious issues should be taken lightly from time to time. I was quite impressed by most of the responses from the Americans, they took it pretty well, and what came out of it was a pretty useful debate regarding the similarities between American foreign policies and the policies of the terrorists they are attempting to stop. A truly serious debate of the issue could have done without the sarcasm and wry humour, but personally I think most discussions are made better with sarcasm and wry humour, and I don't see why this should be any different, especially if it manages to engage more people and provoke more thought. The media use much more underhanded tactics everyday.

No need to apologise. It's a hilarious thread. Anyone who took it seriously needs to lighten up.

I'm new to this site so I don't want get too involved but in my honest opinion such posting is unsensitive, disrespectful, humourless and a waste of time. Americans got angry when roundtower made a post supporting a person who was responsible for the deaths of thousands of people probably including parents, siblings, friends, etc of people who are on that site. Somebody posted that it is amazing how easy it is to wind up an american - that is just a ridiculous statement. What reaction was expected??? Them posts were IMO anyway, a total waste of clearly alot of time. Surely there are more productive things to do.

(since you are new) Let me try articulate in order for you to understand HJs post ....

... Roundtower NEVER "made a post supporting a person who was responsible for the deaths of thousands of people probably including parents, siblings, friends, etc of people who are on that site"

The point he was trying to get across was (a very good one and an extremely witty example) regardless of who the person was or what the person did in their lifetime, any christian human being should not condone the behaviour of people who want to "piss" on someones grave and destroy the bodies final resting place.

Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us

Actually no, Roundtower was merely trying (and succeeding) to wind up loads of Americans. Dont put some deep spiritual meaning on it.

I enjoyed it initially for its windy-up aspect, but yet felt quite embarassed for RT the more I thought about it.

More people died in one 20 minute spell than died in 30 years of The Troubles in NornIron, but yet all my Omagh/Guildford/CanaryWharf jokes seem to meet with disappoval down my local.

Its a jopke, as the cool youngsters say.

Edit : Hey that was a bit of a drunken rant, vodka rocks !
