    To all our talented friends,

In 2007, we hope to stage a pageant in the parade section of the St Patrick’s Festival. Such a venture will involve a large number of people who are interested in performing on the day and also a creative team who will address the areas of set/float design andconstruction, graphic design, set painting, mask making, costume design, musical score writing, PA and special effects, Public relations, fundraising and more.

The theme to next year’s festival is "Legendary". The participants in the St Patrick’s Festival conform to very high standards, and we are anxious to produce a pageant that is inclusive, professional and original. We are not interested in reproducing what has been done in the past and do not want to be seen as clichéd.

While the performance side of the piece is open to all, it would be ideal that people seeking involvement in the design and choreography area have previous relevant experience. A fee for such core positions will be negotiated at a later date.

We are now in the process of applying to the Festival for funding, and as soon as a decision is made, we will be in a better position to proceed with plans and to what scale the production will be. Regardless of size, we will need to organise fundraisers for the event and possibly an afters party on the 17th, so if your talents are in these areas, get involved.

On the Saturday 14th of October at 1 p.m. anyone interested in becoming involved are invited to meet in Outhouse on Capel St to delegate rolls and put together a provisional schedule of events. All interested should reply to the email address below prior to the 14th.

So, with the theme of "Legendary" in mind, get your thinking caps on and on the 17th of March 2007, we will cascade through our capital with an astonishing, accomplished, legendary pageant we can all take pride in.

    Yours sincerely

St Patricks Festival LGBT Pageant 2007

Don't know if I'd agree with you about dubs not being very open to gays. Pride passes off each year with loads of positivity!

Thanks for wishing us luck tho! :)

It's been running for years now without much aggro. Most of the Dubliners that the parade encounters seem to love it.

Are the church not annoyed that the gays are pissing on their saint's holiday?

The committee are well disposed towards it already. The only hiccup will be not getting enough people involved, so if you'd like to be part of it all, come on down!

As for the Church? I'm sure they'll be dazzled and amazed just like everyone else! :D

Great idea ! It will be one in the eye for AOH biggots in New York, it will show them that the "Auld Sod" has moved on from their narrow-minded ideas that they cling to. Can't wait to see it!:D
