I've an analogue RTE & BBC ariel and I moved the TV to nother room in the house and the cale in the attic is not long enough to reach to the other room, so I got another length of coaxial cable and joined the two together and the reception is very poor, is this because of me joining the two cables together or the connectors, male to female connector?

I have the BBC stations on satilllete its just for RTE and Channel 4.

Bad connection, or too long a cable or too poor a cable. Try a low gain low noise mast amplifier to connect the two sections.
