So it's 9pm on monday, the first day of freshers week, and i decide to go down to the hub for a couple of drinks, not too many cos i have class at 9am the next morning, so while leaving my apartment I meet a few people I know and I tag along with them, before I realise it i'm on a bus into town so I texted my friend from ucd to come out for a few drinks with me, when I arrive in town I realise the people I tagged along with are going to reds, and if you know me you'll know I'm not exactly the type who would be seen in somewhere like reds, and seen as I had only planned to go to the hub I was short on the money front and a 10euro entrance fee wasn't exactly possible, so instead of going to reds I met my friend and headed to some rock pub. Later that night realising I couldn't afford a taxi back to dcu i decided to go to ucd and get an early bus the next day, but did things turn out that way? not at all, we headed up to a friend of my friend's apartment for a few drinks and smokes, .....the rest is a bit hazy.....

So this morning i wake up at 10 to 9 lying on a couch with a brick in one hand, an exit sign in another, and a screw driver in my pocket, don't ask, I wont remember. So I quickley left to catch whatever bus I could, after waiting 20 mins I got a bus to town and then another to dcu.

Now I've missed 2 lectures and I'm just wondering does anyone know what I should do, or can anything be done to get what I missed? I'm doing engineering so it's pretty important not to miss lechtures.

Oh and sorry for my long winded story, if I could write better it might have been of some entertainment. Anyway any ideas to what I should do about the classes I missed would be great,

You're immature and need to take greater responsibility for your own actions and not spend the first two years of college being a tool.

you're joking right? cos if you're not, get a life man, being immature would have been to say ah **** it, it'll be grand, i came on looking for a bit of help and this is the best you can do, if you're being sarcastic fair enough and i appoagise for thinking you're a moron

Nah i was only trying to get you're attention asking should i opt out, i'm just wondering should i e-mail my lecturer or is there any point, or what should i do, it's only cos they're the first lectures and such so i'm kinda missing the very start so that's the only reason im worried

Don't stress, it's fresher's week, you probably missed nothing.

Just go to next week's lecture and ask the guy beside you what you missed.

Also check if the notes are online.

you missed 2 lectures - its really not that big a deal you will find that you miss many more as time goes by. i went to DCU and missed quite a few still got my hons degree , you get the notes from people either at the time or coming up to exams and often our lecturers put their over head slides on a shared drive for all to access so ask is this possible but dont worry you will still succeed so relax:)

I just started eng too. Dont worry about it the first few lectures are very general, just kinda tellin us what there gonna be doing over the semester Youll be grand, i really need to lay off the drinkin too, havent read over anything from classes yet. All my notes are just scribbles in a refill pad, i really need to start bringing in the laptop to take down and file notes properly.

Another vote for giving up - you clearly haven't got what it takes to do college properly. The ability to party all night and still struggle in to lectures is practically a course requirement.

PS please ignore above comment if you are doing some form of engineering which involves working in a laboratory with high voltages or other life threatening technologies.

you have to be jokin , dont worry about , i have supposed to be back since Monday , havent been in yet , might do a late pick up of student card and drop in next week depending on work commitments. just check moodle and get the notes.

Make freinds with people in your year in the coming days and ask them for notes, and you'll catch up no problem. Do not stress. Freshers week and college are meant to be like that.

On the first day back in second year after doing repeats for first, I was full of intent not to miss any lectures all year. I went to the bar with mates, got drunk and decided to go get my tounge peirced. Three of us did it, and woke up with hangovers and good memories! Starting third year now, still got the tougne bar, and still intend on never missing a lecture. So far... so good.

I spent three years missing lectures in engineering and look at me now!

OK I might've failed first year and third year but goddammit I'm still there... kinda... If you consider being out for the year repeating externally "still there"...

    What colour is the brick?

Is the screwdriver flat or phillips?
Is there cement on the tip of the screwdriver?

Ignore the exit sign, it could have come from anywhere.

These answers may lead to the most important thing you learn this week.
