NTL/BBC Radio4 Reception - Dublin 14

I am living in Clonskeagh, Dublin 14.

I signed up to NTL principally for the BBC radio service.

In the last two months the BBC Radio 4 reception has disimproved noticably. I now get clipping in the higher frequencies. e.g. 's' sounds come across as though the station was slightly out of tune, which it isn't.

NTL sent out an engineer, who admitted that TV was his speciality even though I had clearly stated the problem on the phone, and he concluded that the problem was at their end. i.e. Other radio stations and the TV channels are fine. Needless to say, nothing has been done about it. I called them again yesterday and they said that they'd get the engineer to call me again. Very helpful....not!

When we were first connected last December, BBC Radio 5 was similarly poor. But, it suddenly got better after a couple of months. As it's not critical for me, I didn't bother with it. My main interest is BBC 4 on FM.

Can I be the only one with poor BBC Radio 4 in Dublin 14?

Are there any other radio heads living in Dublin 14 who listen to BBC Radio 4? What's your reception like?

    Thanks.

    D.

I don't think NTL take radio services too seriously. I'm in Waterford and for years we did'nt have Five Live for some spurious technical reason (some micro-wave link crappola). Both 4 and 5 are sandwiched between various RTE frequences which are much stronger and unless you have the wire pointing a exactly the right angle the stations get overwhelmed by the local product. Oh and Five will dissapear at random intervals for about 5 mins at a time (sorry for being OT they really piss me off!).

NTL are sending another engineer next week.

They say they'll send someone who knows more about radio.

    We'll see.
