This topic has been done over and over again in the past.

At the min i think intel is better with their conroe chip, on the other hand if you preffer amd then go for them

EDIT: by te time xmass comes things might be different to

Buy an E6400 and a DS3. Use some of the money you save to put towards good RAM which you'll want for overclocking.
