HOSTELS IN NEW YORK--advice please

    Hey all,
    I am travelling to New York with a friend in October 17-22. I am looking to stay in a hostel within New York city. Can anyone give me recommendations of where to stay and also where to avoid. I am looking for somewhere not too expensive if possible.

    This is my first time to NY so where is good to go for a pint and bit of a laugh, nightclubs recommended for 2 x 25 yr old lads on tour? Again any adivice or recommendations, gratefully welcomed. We're great craic so if anyone wants to meet up give us a shout!

    p.s I am aware of hostels.com and have read other threads, just looking for some expierences from other people

    How did you get on?Did you find a good hostel, I am going with a friend in Dec and the hotels are just way over our budget, I'm looking now for a good, clean safe hostel in a good location?
