Does anyone know of any good sites or forums etc that would have useful info for backpacking in Oz. Things like which are the best hostels, where to get the best deals on activities and trips etc.

Hi...highly reccomend the following hostels...Banana Benders in Brisbane(stayed in 3 there and this was best by far). Up top Down Under in Cairns(great buzz there and v friendly staff with a nice pool, again best I was in there). And Kanga House in Kings Cross, Sydney (stayed in Bondi and cc also and another in Kings Cross but stayed here for two months, legend)..Just some recommendations...enjoy!

Lonely planet site - thorn tree forums, probably the best. Bugaustralia.com.au also, but i used the thorn tree a lot for OZ, pretty good

If you're going to Sydney I'd recommend Eva's backpackers in Kings cross.
Clean and reasonably quiet. I know people who stayed in some awful kips around King's Cross.
