I've had a DS since launch. Got screen protectors for the first one but they were a waste of money IMO as when I exchanged for a Lite I didn't bother and I've not had a single scratch. I have a carry case but don't really use it as the Lite doesn't get scratched easily IMO.

My brother also has one of the old DS's without screen protectors and not a scratch on it.

Unless your going to let people play it who push then really hard on the screen you should be okay without them IMO.

Cases seem like a good idea but generally too bulky.

Saying all that I got a 4 Gamers pack in Virgin in Liffey Valley with everything but that was ages ago so it might not be available still. Screen protectors were grand but the stylus that came with it scratched the screen so I never used it. It is a little expensive too as it comes with in car charger etc.. and the whole thing cost about 30 Euro which is a good bit for a case and screen protectors.

screen protectors are useless for the ds, what with it closing and all :)

As for carry cases, I've seen nice compact ones in game but personally I'm happy with my overly bulky GBA case as it holds alot of gba games. The ds lite is perfect for the pocket with out the case and doesn't seem too prone ot scratches.
