SKY+ Dish On Roof

I have been trying to upgrade my current
sky set-up to sky+ the deal was 150 Euro with 75 E for
    installation.

All was going well until I told them I live
in Dublin and my dish was on the roof,
sky told me they don't have any special
heights teams in Ireland, and that I would
have to use an independent contractor to
do the set up, and that they would not let me
have the set for that price.

Any ideas about what sort of price I'm likely
to have to pay, and will I still be contracted to
sky for a 12 month contact if I use an independent.
I was looking for at least an 80G box,

The contract is still with sky regardless of whether its an independent or not

    If you go to an independent contractor to do your job {install box/ mini dish}
your 1year warranty is with him, your sucription contract is with sky

    Thanks for that lads,
I should have made myself clearer,
if I use an independent contractor,
from whom I either buy or supply the
    SKY+ Box,
will I still be contracted for a minimum
    term with sky,
as they are not giving me or offering me,
a reduction on the box or installation.

The indy should be able to offer a subsidised Sky box too AFAIK, though install charge will most likely be higher, as the dish has to go on the roof.

And if you're getting a subsidised box, then yes you'll be bound to the terms of the Sky offer - make sure and ask the indy what the terms are.

Of course, if you get an unsubsidised box, then I don't think you will be bound to the minimum 12month term, though does it really matter?

Best thing to do is ask a few local independant retailers, shop around. Though make sure and return and let us know how you progress!
