I lost my wallet on Saturday, did all the proper things cancelled my cards and thought there was no hope of ever seeing it again. But today at half one I got a call from the bank, someone found it and handed into the Limerick Post (cash was gone but it wasn't much and they are welcome to it) everything else was there all my cards!!

    Good old Limerick!!

Happened to me before a few years back as well.
Lost my wallet, and when I went to the bank somebody had handed it in.

The bank teller was unbelievably stupid!
She kept telling me that she couldn't give it back to me unless I had photo ID, and it took me ten minutes to explain to her that my ID was in my wallet!!!

I was feeling all warm and fuzzy about this story until I got to the point where the money was taken eventhough the wallet was handed in. If you did have alot of money in the wallet then this wouldn't be such a happy story.
Lost a wallet in the newsagents in the Crescent. Staff called me the next day and gave it back all money and cards intact. Now that's decent.

I only ever carry about ten euros in cash in it, so it wasn't to bad (and most of that was in brown change)
