Digital Camera Recommendation?

Hi, sorry if this is a bit of an untechnical question. I'm thinking about buying a digital camera just to bring out with me to nights out, events and so. I was looking at a load of old photographs and realised that I have very few and would like to have more. I know absolutely nothing about digital cameras. I was just wondering what kind of features I should be looking out for (how many mega pixels/what that means etc) and if there's any particularly good cameras for this kind of very much amateur type of photography? I wouldn't want to spend more than 180 or so, a bit less if possible. Is it possible to get anything good for this type of price?

    Thanks

This was my 1st camera! I was a nice handy one for myself.. I was getting into photography!

you only want it for nights out so it should do you just fine! I bout mine for 160.. That was about 2 years ago lol.. so it should be less... if you can find it!

I reckon if you ask in any camera shop around where you live they will give you one to suit your needs! i.e wont rip you off! lol
