I'm buying some car audio gear from ebay in the US. They are quoting me riduculous amounts to post it here ($200 for €350 worth of amps and speakers), so i want to see what my best options are. I have a friend in the states who I could send it to and hwe could then send it on to me. I know if you send via DHL or UPS you are definitely going to get hit by customs for duty, but I heard it you just get it sent via USPS (United States Postal Service)its less likely to get noticed. It will prob take longer but I'm in no real hurry.

    Anyone got any tips?
    Thanks

Have them try and split up the shipment, that'll probably save some cash. Don't ask on how to avoid/minimise duty. :)

The only way I know to avoid tax is to have your shipment labelled as a gift and valued under $50. This is risky as it won't be insured for it's true value. Anything over $50 is liable for excise duty and vat.
