I think Fonthill Road is great value at 12/5 (betfair) to take the 2:40 at Hamilton. His form had been questionable of late, but it turned out that he had a back problem which was treated, and he duly went on to win the Ayr gold cup last time out. The ground is good to soft today, which is what Fonthill Road loves. There are a couple of interesting statistics to note here too: Blindly backing Trainer RA Fahy's horses at Hamilton shows a +12pts profit. ALSO, blindly backing Jockey Paul Hanagan at Hamilton shows a +6 pts profit. Hanagan was on board on most of the horses best runs, and partners him well. Fontill road is proven on this course (over this distance) and I will be very surprised if he is beaten today. The main threat for me is Spenser on board Eisteddfod, but if Fonthill Road is back firing on all cylenders, he should take this.

    A maximum 10pts bet for me @ 12/5

Got to agree 100% with Fonthill Road, I can't see past him today. Bygone days like almost all Godolphin runners will probably need the run and he's weighted to beat Eisteddfod on both previous meetings. I don't think his form prior to Ayr was much to do with an injury but more to do with him being given some easy races and not pushed too hard to keep him fresh for Ayr, that was his target all year.

On the subject of the trying too hard my old mate Mark Prescott is up to his old tricks today with Accent at 4:30. It ran in 3 maidens over 5 and 6 furlongs to get it's handicap mark, the good Sir obviously realised his mistake and now ups the horse to 1M 2F for it's handicap debut. It 3 previous runs seen it finish 9th of 10, 7th of 10 and 7th of 13 so such stunning form makes it 7/2 favourite today.

Fonthill Road was 2nd. While my gut reaction is that he was let go too late, It may be my pocket talking there, and the winner certainly looked very good. Still one to keep an eye one anyway.
