Who has the right of way?

Just wondering who has the right of way. Where Hatch street (top of Pembroke St) meets leeson st. There is a green light, not flashing, no yield sign when coming up hatch street. On Leeson St (going towards the green) there is the same. There are no designated lanes, apart from the contra-flow bus lane, on Leeson St. So I was just wondering who has the right of way. I have been almost side-swiped on numerous occassions when on Leeson St (going towards the green) by drivers coming up Pembroke/Hatch St. I would of thought Leeson St was the main road so you would have the right of way. Anyone any ideas.

im not too sure of the location you are talking about but the general rule is to give way to traffic on the right,if you are coming from the right then you have the right of way

Traffic on Leeson Street has right of way. The problem would appear to be Pembroke St. / Hatch St. traffic assuming they have the right of way because their light is green. The red lights here would appear to only be relevant when the contraflow lane is green.

Perhaps Pembroke St. / Hatch St. should get flashing orange filter lights instead. They do however suffer from never having the right of way. When the contraflow lane is green, Pembroke St. must be red, so when the contraflow lane is red, (Pembroke St. green), perhaps Leeson Street inbound could be given some red time - pedestrains would appreciate it.

Of course I've seen a car driver race up the contraflow lane and swing a left into Pembroke St.

Yep thats what I thought as it is the main street. They really should do something with the traffic management there.

Imeddyhobbs - I know the other end (Pembroke Street) where Merrion Row and Baggot St traffic join you give way to traffic on the right.

I've seen cars and taxis use the contra-flow lane also but you do get a Garda there regularly stopping them, especially when going past the Green.

That makes sense Victor, give way to traffic on said road, it is how I treat that turning, my left wing being €900 before fitting and spraying to risk a prang!

That said, there is no doubt that traffic on both streets should not both have a green light and it is a sure accident waiting to happen when somebody will be killed

Numerous accidents at this junction already its as bad as hume st/green.

Give way to tarffic on your right, pembroke st is on your right as you turn into leeson st. But as many of you know at 5pm its sods law and try and squeeze your way home.

Have you said that quite right? Leeson Street traffic isn't turning, so shouldn't have to yield to Pembroke Street traffic.

True but its sods law after 5pm and many a time ive stopped an accident by yielding to the wrong side.
