    Hey all,

Curiosity and information, i was wondering for all you people who have or are going to travel round the world o, travel Europe/South America/etc...

How much money do you take with you and have you taken a loan out or did you save?

Hope it's not too personal but would love to know as I am in that situation now and also am just very curious.

EDIT: (forgot this detail, say for between 6 months and a year)

I saved €15K in twelve months here and spent it all on eight months travelling. Best investment I ever made

Must say though that I was living it up and could have spent €5K less than I did.

4 months in Central America , incl return flights home spent €5.5k , did 7 countries for that and was carefulish with the budget but spent at least 1 night per week in real good ( or as good as i could get depending on where i was!!) accomodation. Its not supposed to be hardcore all the way, live a bit!!
5 months in SE Asia & 2 months in NZ , spent a pittiance under €7.5k incl all flights there and back. Had the advantage of staying with relatives most of the time in NZ , but what i did'nt spend on accom i spent on beer for the barbie!
The amount you take will never be enough once you hit the road
You will always wish you had more , best thing is sit down , decide where and what you really wanna do, see and experience , ask a few questions here or on other boards re costs and take a good old guesstimate yourself.
When you do get away don't fall into the trap that I and I'm sure countless others fall into " ah sure its only a couple of €" do that twice a day for a week and your down €20/week if not more , over 5 months , well its almost 2 - 3 weeks wonga gone .
SMK135 enjoy your trip wherever it takes you.
