Creative Zen - can't get laptop to recognise it???

Morning.

When i plug my creative zen into the usb port on my laptop it won't recognise it. I use the port for a mouse and to access the internet so it's not faulty.

I spent the last week uploading over 200 albums to windows media; please tell me it hasn't all been in vain!! Is there any way to transfer music from one laptop to another?

Any ideas?

I had this problem sometimes with my zen, I used to just try unplugging it and plugging it back in again. Did this a few times and it would work eventually (sometimes used different USB port and sometimes a different cable).
As for transferring music between laptops, I know there's a cable you can buy to transfer stuff from one USB to another, I got one for about €30 quid before.
