Eircom BB outage in Galway/Mayo 09 region

It was out all day yesterday.
I had my first encounter with Eircom outsourced (Bangalore?)
tech support. Very faint voice telling me that it was being worked on.

Did anyone hear an official explanation as to what caused the outage ?

I know BT broadband in 09x was hit around Thursday of last week.

A guy down in the local PC shop told me someone told him that
someone dug up a cable in Galway earlier in the week and the
problem worsened. That's only hearsay mind you. It was the
first major outage I've had with Eircom BB since getting it around
    February.

I think they are all in Dublin. Not all of them have great English though.

oops - I must have had a David Brent moment there.

I suppose I assumed it was a call centre in India since that was/is the
case with Dell. The agent was reasonably helpful but the volume from
his headset was poor which is why I felt the call had been routed
to somewhere on another side of the planet.

Anyone know what happened to 09 area broadband in any case ?

BT went last night in the 09 area around 10pm and wasn't back at 2am. This is also my first outage with BT. All the BB providers have been having outages around here in the last week so it's hard to know whats going on.

eircom b/band first went on wednesday for about 8 hours 1pm - 9pm (aprox).
it went again thurs afternoon at 4.30 pm, someone told me it came back for an hour or two on thurs evening but went again. it came back on friday at around 2pm but it was only for a few hours agian, and it was out all day saturday. i just check here, right now at 11.45am and its back again.

i rang on wednesday at 1pm and OUR INDIAN FRIEND had me doing loads of tests, but they were a waste of time. he told me that it was a small problem just in my area and that there was a few phone calls before me and these people all had the same troulbe. he told me it should work in a few hours (lie). a friend of mine rang an hour after me and 'our indian friend' had him doing a load of tests on the b/band box and his computer, just like what he had me doing an hour before. again, a waste of time.

'our indian friend most likely was having everyone doing these tests, knowing full well it was a waste of time. i would bet any money that 'our indian friend' had not got a clue what was going on and like eircom most likely did not care.

last week i heard on pat kenny's radio show a story about eircoms 11811 service. long story but after hearing it eircom are a bunch of gangsters. so i will ring 11850 anymore, if i have to.

question ' will eircom give us a discount on our bills now'
oh, i heard on the pat kenny show, they dont, silly me.

My Broadband has been out since Tuesday. I was onto the Eircom support every day since then and got the same story about it been looked into.
Now I have it back up, and I was wondering when something like this happens am i entitled to any come-back from eircom on my bill.

Can I get a reduction in my next bill is what I want to know?

It was out in Sligo (on the Rathedmond exchange) from about 12.30am on Friday night / Saturday morning to early this morning.

Rang twice yesterday, once at 12.30pm to make sure it wasn't faults in my line.. they said they had reports and were working on it. Rang again about 5.30pm and they apparently hadn't got an update all day and couldn't give me a timeframe when it would be fixed.

Said he'd flag me and ring me to report when they got it up and running. Woke up this morning and it was working but recieved no phone-call.
