So I want to do Ancient History and Archaeology, and that's 345 points. I found out yesterday I have to combine that with a limited selection, I'll probably do History of Art and Architecture, but that's 490. I assume I have to acheive over 490 to be allowed to take those subjects?

Yep, you need the points requirement of the subject with the higher level of points.

Where does it say that AH & Arch is 345? From here, it combined with Bib Theo (aka Religion and Theology Studies, or RATS) is 345, but that's the lowest it gets.

The Irish Times said so, and so did the CAO. It was 450 last year, and went down to 345.

It'd be good to see some more Leixlip heads in TCD.

The points change every year for every course, depending on the demand for that course in that particular year. Simply because it's 345 in 2006 doesn't mean it's not going back to 450 in 2007, or down to 300 points either. You may well know that, but many people don't so it's good to get that out of the way.

But yes, to get into a TSM programme you have to achieve sufficient points to get into both programmes. Oh and 490 is very achievable - even in Coláiste Chiaráin - if you put your head down every night until June. I guarantee it that Trinity is worth the effort.

Thanks. I keep changing my mind with what subject to do it with, english lit and history look really difficult..but ancient history and arch is my dream. Yep, Coláiste...

AHA's a great course... surprised the points dipped that low this year.
