apple reaching an all time low [no iTunes bundled with Nano]

I discovered today that the new apple nano does not include the itunes so anyone who is interested in buying a new nano must have an internet connection. But I can hear people saying "ahh, but I have itunes 6, surely that will work" well the answer is no. You need the latest version of itunes.

Why don't apple bother including the software with the new ipods. Is there a chance that they will start charging for the software?

Bring on creative, I am now sick of apple

I've been against iPod from the start because of their dirty proprietary format, and restrictive policies.

This move is probably just cost-cutting, which doesn't really inspire confidence in what has been traditionally a brand associated with high quality.

Well the reality is that nearly everyone to whom the iPod is marketed has an internet connection anyway. In fact anyone who uses MP3 format is likely to have the internet or access to it, and I'd say a lot of people would buy their music online because of it.

I'm sure if iPod was marketed to grannys and grandads, a CD would be included.

No need for iTunes, if you wan the best out of your DAP, use the above.

I think it's a good move, Apple have constantly been shrinking the size of their packaging since some environment protest group went after them a few years ago, and it makes sense to have small boxes for shipping purposes. The old iPod boxes were huge cubes, and the new iPod nano boxes are half the size of the old ones. iTunes will always be free, it's the Store that the money is made from.

When they announced the latest ipods they were talking about the packaging and how the volumes was smaller than before
