Sky Picture Does Not Fit Screen

So first off I don't know if this is the right place for this but i'll try anyway...

Problem is that the picture received from my Sky box does not fit the tv properly. The picture is too big or something, anyway the bottom of the picture isn't fully seen. This isn't so much a problem more than an annoyance, esp. watching the news channels and stuff where the ticker is cut off. I originally thought this was the tv's fault but when i watched RTE channels coming through regular aerial its fine(i've compared, definately differant on the Sky)
This is why i think its possibly some sort of set up for the Sky box, but i'm not all that familiar with the thing (only had Sky a couple of months, and kept meaning to fix it)

Anyway i have a JVC widescreen TV, fairly standard by any accounts. Any help would be much appreciated...

There are 2 things I thionk it could be (I've had the problem myself).

    1) Check the TV is set to the right zoom (ie 16:9 or 4:3) and see if the picture is right (Don't worry if the picture looks too thin; it will change itself after a minute)

    2) Is it SKY digital you have? On the remote, press "Services", "System Setup", then I think it's "Picture" or something to that effect, then change the box to 16:9 and "Save New Settings".

    3) ^^^ If that doesn't work ^^^
Do the same again but this time change the box to 4:3 L. I think the problem is that the digibox is taking in widescreen pictures and chopping the edges out for a normal screen. The best channel to test this on is probably Sky News. If you can see the tivker and the people don't look too fat/thin it's ok.

It's 2 things : the box is crushing widescreen but the TV is trying to fill the whole screen anyway. The result is that you lose the top & bottom of the picture and you get tall thin people. Change the zoom for the TV using th JVC remote and then switch the Sky Box to 16:9.

hey, i have a jvc widescreen myself for about a year and a half and sky on it for about a year.

I have the exact same problem except from what i figured out it is a problem with the tv via scart or something! Cause it was also missing the bottom on my xbox.

The rte tickers are often thicker that sky's so im still missing the bottom of rte's ticker but still readable as it is higher up.

So sad news is i have not been able to solve this :(
    But overall happy with tv.
Its a 32" crt widescreen with stand, cost about €400 year and a half ago

Set Sky Digibox to 16:9 screen
Set TV to auto or WS and use a fully wired SCART lead,

Even some 4:3 sets work with WS mode. (Beko, Philips, Sony, Mitsubishi etc better models).

DON'T watch via TV tuner but via AV in
