    Hi,

I started a job about 2 weeks ago, but its just not working out for me (thats a thread for another day!)
What I want to know is if I start a new job next week will I need to tell them about the previous job? Can they find out I had a job previously for only about 2 weeks?
I don't want to as it doesn't look the best..

    Thanks :)

I don't think they would find out if you don't mention it.

I was in the same situation just before landing my present job.
I was honest and told the new employer why I was leaving that short term job and they still hired me... maybe for my honesty?

Stepbar, they haven't got my p45, I haven't left yet!
I'm only on a trial basis at the moment.
Should I get a p45 off them when I leave? I thought that the new company could find out through this or through dealings with the tax office or something?

You'll have to get a P45 for your tax to be sorted out in the new job....It will only go to payroll though who i'm sure wouldnt question it.

I was in similar situation a few years ago. I got offered two jobs at the same time. I started the first one only to find out pretty quickly that it wasn't the job i was told it was. My case was different in that i figured it out after 3 days so i left. Because i was only there 3 days i hadn't given the company my tax details or anything yet. I was happy enough not to be paid for the 3 days so i never gave them my details. So i didn't need a P45 and just went straight to the other job.

The payroll department aren't going to mention what your P45 says to the HR department so just make sure you supply it directly to them.

The thing is- the new company who I'm starting with is very small. There's no payroll dept. or HRM dept. as such so the manager will find out..!
