Maybe this would be better in the classic car shows sticky thread so free feel to move this, mr moderator....

The classic car sale on the 8th October at the Citywest hotel car park is coming up. I've been to two of the last three (were there more?) of these events. Seems quite well organised and very popular, with enthusiasts popping along to see if they can see a similar car to theirs and see how much they're asking. A bit like the property porn of the Irish Times or Indo in some ways.

but i'm wondering, what with the sheer explosion in popularity of classic cars and the corresponding growth of the old car scene, how values are shaping up? the only barometer of irish prices is in the buy and sell, it seems to me although the Irish Vintage Scene magazine may well take that over once it takes off.

It occurs to me that this sale might give a good indication of real world values, but fellow old car owners and mates reckon the vast majority of the cars there are overpriced. And hardly the best examples either.

    Any opinions?

when all is said and done, the right price is the one at which the sale is happening... Market forces.

Are houses overpriced in this country? If so, why are people still buying? I am of those who think that buying property is folly at the moment, but nothing forbids people from spending their cash in a crazy way... some even spend it on rusty bolts and nuts :)

The present value of an asset is its perpetual annual rent divided by the best savings interest rate: work out how much you paid for your house to see if it was not better than saving your cash and renting it :) It is actually more complex, but a good start.. :)
