Going to Berlin next month for a few days. Any advice appreciated: hotel recommendations, things not to miss, good food and bars serving top quality German beer :D

Was in berlin in june for 3 days, went to the love parade, shocking experience those germans are liberal. Three days in berlin wasn't long enough. I'm planning to go back in november for a few more days to see the place properly. The city is massive. It can house 20 million people but the population is only 4 mill. We stayd in a hostel, It was squeaky clean and a great place it you want to meet a few people over there Its 2 minutes from orainienburgerstrasse, a big strip with loads of resturants, bars and night clubs. The hostel sent a mail to me a few weeks back(baxpax.de). Beds are as low as €9.95 at the minute. There is a decent bar in the hostel and a night club underneath it for the weekends. The city itself is beautiful apart from that big dirty tower that the communists built, its horrible but a great view point when you get to the top of it. The city has serious history. We did a walking tour of the city. It took 5 hours, well worth it. Loads of interesting history about the 30 years war, WW1, WW2 and the berlin wall. The stuff about communist propaganda was class and it only cost a tenner. The do a trip to sachenhausn, a concentration camp. its only an hour from the city. Enjoy it!

Looked at the other threads, not a lot of interest as you say. I'm not going for another month but I was particularly wondering about a good hotel location; the last time I was there they still had a wall so I'd imagine the centre has shifted a bit!

If you get a chance when you come back post some info. Enjoy!

It's a bit overwhelming sometimes to be honest. Always something on, somewhere new to go, new people, and it's cheap too.

Ehh it could be, I'm not usually in that one too much so I'm not sure. I must check!

There's probably a few threads on cities from time to time but it's hard to find them due to the search function prob I spose.
