Setting up NTL Digital, NTL Broadband, DVD Recorder and Standard NTL

    Hi everyone,

ok got NTL Digital and NTL Broadband installed the other day. I've got the digital and broadband working but can't tune in the standard NTL channels (i.e. can only watch TV at the moment through digital).

    I've got the following setup

1.) Sony Bravia 32in LCD TV
    2.) Sony DVD Recorder
    3.) NTL Cable Modem
    4.) NTL Digital Box

The NTL wall socket has a cable running from it to a cable adapter.

The cable adapter has 2 cables coming out the other side.

1 to the cable modem for broadband
    1 to the digital box

The digital box then has a cable running from it to the TV - along with a scart connection to the TV.

I can view Digital no problem.

I then attempt to tune in channels using the auto-tuner on my TV but it does not find any - any gotchas with my setup above which would explain this??

Second, assuming someone can enlighten me on the above issue, I'd like to setup the DVD recorder so it can record from either the standard NTL service or the Digital service.

The DVD player is currently connected to the TV with a scart lead.

Ok, i'm dizzy now trying to work this out. Can anyone recommend my optimal setup?

    Thanks.

I have a similar set-up, albeit minus the Sony Bravia:(

You should have an aerial (cable tv) lead into the antenna in on the cable box and then a RF cable from the antenna out on the cable box to the antenna in socket on the DVD recorder, then an RF lead from the RF out to the RF in on the Bravia. That should allow you to see the normal channels.:)

Put your main COAX aerial feed into your DVD recorder. Now, attach a tv cable (coax) from the COAX out into your digibox and then feed another cable from the coax out on the digibox into the back of your TV.

As for SCARTS, have the TV out of your digibox going into your TV and the VCR out going into the back of your DVD Recorder. Then run a scart from the Scart out on your DVD recorder into the back of the TV.

This allows you to record from analogue or digital and allows you to watch digital whilst recording from analogue and vice versa.

In the normal course of events the set top box will ALWAYS be in circuit BEFORE the DVD recorder or VCR.

Have to agree 100% with Freddie. Feed STB first.
