So i had an idea for a site, my own personal one, nothing commerical,
So i chose a few domain names and they were all in use. Then thought of a good one and i typed into internet explorer address bar by accident and was sent to the msn.co.uk page saying it cannot find it.
I then typed the name in lunarpages.com which is a highly reputable hosting org. It was free so i go to get my credit card and then all of a sudden it isnt free!!!

I did a whois look up on dnsstuff.com and it was only just purchased a few minutes ago. There is no way this is a coincidence. So is the msn.co.uk or the lunarpages.com rigging these? Both are huge companies obviously.

    Im sooo angry at this.

Edit : The msn site was http://sea.search.msn.co.uk/dnserror.aspx?FORM=DNSAS&q=myactualspace.com
this is part of the msn network yes, and not just a lookalike?

I've registered plenty of domains and I've never personally come across that before. Having said that, it's certainly not the first time I've heard such claims.

Not the first time I've heard such claims either. I'd suggest getting in touch with someone at MSN. If they are carrying out such a practice, it would be easy enough to find out (also easy to cripple them financially by writing a bot to pass bogus domains through internet explorer's search facility).

    Edit: MUUUAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA </monty burns>

So ive spent the last week contacting msn about this.

I filled out the online complaint form. Sent a mail from the US branch and i replied, then was told the Irish branch would contact me. After 3 mails with the Irish branch i was referred to a US specific branch who quickly told me that i should fill out a complaint form!!!
After explaining i did it a week ago, he said that he filled one out on my behalf and should be contacted shortly by the right branch. I then recieve a mail from the "right" branch telling me that they would like me to send some sort of complaint to them that nobody has told them why they were told to contact me and to make sure i tell them exactly what msn email account im having trouble with..WTF?.....this is just stupid....i only get a message about every 24hours from them so this is since the 21st ...

I think im being giving the run around. The worst part is: Its SOO obvious that the answers im getting from these people are just saved responses and they are hardly even reading my mails. things like "We are sorry you are having trouble accessing a domain name, You are a valued customer to Msn.".....argh!!!
