Scubbin' in new rubber

Just took delivery of a new set of tyres for my W650:D . Had to order them from the UK

Even though I've been driving for years I've managed to avoid replacing rubber on any bike I had. What I need to know is if there is something I need to watch out for whilst wearing them in.

I've heard stories of people going on their ass after getting a new set fitted, I want to avoid this.

Take it easy for first 100 miles (160 kms). No extreme lean angles until they're properly scrubbed...

Have heard of some riders taking sand-paper to their tyres.. Probably unnecessary.. Just take it easy, particularly in the wet weather..

Take it easy for the first while and gradually increase your lean angles. They'll bed in pretty soon. I wouldn't do the sand paper thing as the tyres need to bed into the wheels a bit too and you'll need to get used to the new rubber.

They're a bit slippery for a while cos of the release agent that is on the moulds when they're made, you are trying to take the shinyness of them ....just go faster/corner a bit harder as you do the miles. Thing not to do is do say 100 miles then launch it into a corner hard.

Just remember to increase your lean angle progressivly until the tires have a nice matt finish and also watch if you do have the odd burn out day cos the spinning wheel can force some of the compounds to the tyre surface so if you notice tires getting shiney again you'll have to take it handy

Just got the tyres fitted in Cotters today, Philip only charged me 40 squid and he did a great job.

I drove like a granny on the way home and managed to make it in one piece. For those of you who've seen my bike, its not the type you could actually do a burn out on :D
