    Hi,
just was looking for some quick ideas - I see that another thread the opinion seemed to be that the DS is better that the PSP. I can't access Eurogamer here in work, so basically was hoping someone could let me know which games to recommend on the DS - I mainly like FPS, rpg's or platformers! Or anything else good about it - I know nothing about it really, cept that its a handheld console.
    Thank you VERY much

Mario and Luigi Partners in Time - Mario RPG - Excellent
    Mario Kart DS - Racer
New Super Mario Bros. - Vintage Mario Platformer
Advance Wars: Dual Strike - Turn Based Strategy - probably one of the most engaging and fun games I've ever played
Phoenix Wright - Strange sort of evidence/court room drama type game that is very popular
Metrod Prime Hunters - Vintage metroid

Don't forget the DS is backwards compatible with the GBA too (which is perfect for long journeys as the battery lasts much longer while playing GBA games) - I've just ordered Final Fantasy IV and already have Castlevania Double Pack and am also waiting on Mario Power Tennis.

There's plenty of quality games out there and I'm sure I'm missing a few.

As always I will recommend Osu Tatakae Ouendan and electroplankton, cause they both rock. The first being a great rythm action game with excellent graphical style and a catchey as hell soundtrack. The second being a fantasticle musical game thing with fish.

Pac Pix is well worth getting if you can find it, it's like nothing out there, you draw pac man and what you draw moves around, very clever game, tough as nails towards the end though.

Meteos is a great block based puzzler, frantic as hell, my personal favourite multi player game on the DS, also one of my favourite games on the system overall.

Curretly, I would say that Advance Wars DS is the best game on the system, but my opinion on that matter changes rather frequently.

New super Mario Brothers is a great platform game. I've not found a really good RPG for it yet though. Metroid prime hunters a a good FPS.

Lots of really odd games on it you would never think you'd like and then become completely addicted to. The touchscreen and stylus makes all the difference to the gameplay.

Meteos and Zookeeper are both horribly addictive.

As already mentioned it's the great games available.

    Inlcude to the list already:
Actionloop (Magentica) DS version of arcade classic Puzzloop
Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime - only out (in US) and it's awesome
    Starfox Command !
Upcoming games like Pro Evo 6, Diddy Kong Racing, Pokemon(with online wi-fi), Final Fantasy III....

The diversity of the games is brilliant, you can have games like Brain Age, Cooking Mama, Trauma Centre, Ouendan , as well as the traditional games like New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, Castlevania, Advance Wars and Metroid Prime Hunter.

Specific Titles for the genre's you like:
    FPS:
    Metroid Prime Hunters

    Platformers:
    New Super Mario
    Castlevania
    Megaman ZX

    RPG's
Final Fantasy III (when it's out)
    Lost Magic (plays great online)

Thanks for the replies, very informative!
I didn't realise its backward compatible with the GBA - that's a big plus for me, so I'll probably get it so.
Games sound really good, Advance Wars, Meteo, Metroid and Mario are the ones I'll probably hit first. Plenty of good ones out there by the sounds of it.:D

    Cheers!
