My first thoughts on Kyokushin Karate - Ouch! Body and mind bruised alike. You see ive had my fair share of martial arts experience, but its all been semi-contact,unlike kyokushin which is full contact (as Im sure most of you are aware) and as my thight took another heavy shin kick, I realised there was a world of difference (and pain!) between the two!
Our instructor,ShaneT is an inspirational man, of great intensity and experience.I am lead to believe his body is composed entirely of metal.:D
The class we had Tuesday was exceptionally trying, and I found myself thinking if I was actually up to the task. When it was over I sighed in relief, only to be told it was a fairly moderate class, and that thursday will be tougher... since then ive learned the wonders of Tiger balm.:D All in all I really enjoyed it though!!
    Oh well.....roll on Thursday night!

yeah Wes, I was one of the 1st students down there last year, before I moved to Thailand, to expand me Muay thai.

www.mma-ireland.com is an excellent club, tough, and trained the way Karate should be trained, plus the mma stuff they do. shane is a great instructor too, and leads by doing!

yep I have experienced full contact legs kicks from him too! ouch!!!

I used to train in Kyokushin when I lived in NY. I have a green belt with brown stripe [3rd kyu IIRC] I remember when I was going for my blue belt [it was the second belt they didn't have yellow at the time] I was sparring with a black belt and i was hit so hard i thought i had broken a rib. Good times :)

You should pay us a visit if you're ever up in Dublin. We're always eager to meet people from other MMA gyms.

    OSU,

    Dave.
