    Three-Day Training Course for Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Social Workers.

    “Everything you wanted to know about working with Gay, Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender people but were afraid to ask”.

    The Gay Men’s Health Project (Health Service Executive) is pleased to announce the 6
    th training course, exploring issues confronting counsellors, psychotherapists, or social workers, who are or may be working with lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender clients (LGBT). Due to increased demand and also to allow us to cover as much as possible the course is now extended to a Three-Day one.



    Day One
    will include the following: Interactive training around homophobia, both societal and internal. A presentation of various recent Irish research and reports. A presentation on married gays and lesbians.



    Day Two
    will expand on the first day and have interactive presentation and workshops on Lesbian sexuality, Bisexuality, Transgender, and also young LGBT persons. Participants must have attended day one.



    Day Three
    will deal with related clinical work and the issues for clients and
    practitioners in relation to sex and shame. Covering counsellor bias, sexual
    terminology/practices, sexual addiction, and spirituality. Participants must have attended day one and two.



    Training is facilitated by counsellors, outreach workers/trainers and psychotherapists.

    Day One: 9.30am to 5.00pm Monday 23rd October 2006
    Day Two: 9.30am to 5.00pm Monday 6th November 2006
    Day Three: 9.30am to 5.00pm Monday 27th November 2006


    Deadline:
    The Training Course is Limited to 25 participants. Acceptance is
    on a First Register Basis: confirmation will be sent out please
    indicate email address or fax number where possible


    Cost:
    €200.00 for Private Practice and Non HSE Staff.


    €80.00 for HSE Staff only(i.e. HSE Group Personal Number)
    Fee covers lunches (hot meal) teas, coffees etc for the three days.
    Pre booking and payment will secure place.

    Note: we reserve the right to reschedule.

    did this course a couple of years ago & it was very enlightening. Watch out for T Hicks' History of the World! Fascinating.
