Anybody else lose Sky Three? I have an FTV card and was receiving it until yesterday but now I'm getting "This is the wrong card message".

ya, got exact same message last night.

i checked my signal strength and signal quality but both are approx. 75% and over.

message seemed to indicated wrong subscription card was being used, strange as the FTV card was ok to receive Sky 3 all along!

Anyway i wonder have they decided to make Sky 3 subscription only?

Aye. Got this yesterday around 2 o'clock as I was watching it. Worked for over a year before that.
This is the wrong card for this Set Top Box. Insert the correct Sky viewing card. Call your broadcaster for assistance

Sky Three works fine for me with my FTV card. However, my FTV card *is* paired to the box it is in, so it looks like Sky Three now only works for FTV cards that are in their correct Sky box.

    on another board today:

"Also it looks like any of mine will not become active anymore and i don't know if sky will pair any old card with any box if it's not purchased from them . I've had a couple of cards and boxes running for 48 hours and nothing , no ch4 or 5 . They're up to something wich again will outrage the licence payer ; digital swichover ....."

Since Sky3 is not a true FTV channel like C4 and Five, and is part of Sky's own pay content, I suppose they can do what they like.

I'm amazed it was ever FTV, and especially on an Irish card.

I read elsewhere that this is only happening on Panasonic boxes and/or boxes with 3.5.3 software.

    Anyone?

i've got a uk ftv card, so i don't see why ch4 would go

also i've got a Pace box, cant remember about the software though

what is the latest software anyway

Still ok on cards which were married to boxes so still FTV.
Lest we forget, BBC on FTV back in the days were encrypted and required your card to be married to the box.

No, I have a Panasonic box running 3.5.3 software, with FTV card, and Sky Three is fine. Again my card *is* married to the box and this seems to be what is crucial with regard to Sky Three.

How sly they really are. This was FTA. Now they've scrambled it. Not impressed at all.

Sky3 was never Free To Air (FTA). It has always been encrypted (scrambled if you like). It was inexplicably FTV (Free to View) on any Sky card. Now only on a paired card (a card with correct box serial number).

Much as I hate to defend Sky, this is absolutely reasonable. It's their pay TV channel which for reason known best to themselves they have been letting cancel Irish Subs and UK FTV card users watch for free. But not Free To Air.
