Just wondering, seems to be a few jobs going in the Tech Support roles there at the moment.

I know someone who went for a job there before. You are hired by Siemens as a contractor and then sent to work on the AIB systems, so you need to set yourself up as a contractor first. There is a company that does this for a fee of 5% of your wages (or something like that) so don't be misled by the salary figures.

Siemens Business Services and Fujitsu Siemens terms and conditions would be weaker than similar companies. From talking to their HR people in Dublin I got an impression that wages were very low for the jobs done. However I was talking about Field Service roles so I could be wrong.

However I did notice that they were offering only a 16% uplift for 24x7 shift work which is extremely poor.

Try HP via IT Alliance - may offer slightly better conditions than Siemens which is undergoing major cutbacks at the moment in the IT divisions.

hmm, the guy from recruitment told me the pay was 125 a day. That seems a bit ridiculous for Tech Support. The job description is nothing new or different really. Just general support.

Yep, it's 125 a day for a 6 month contract. But like I said, you need to get setup as a contractor first, which means either paying the agency to do it for you or doing it yourself and your own time/expense.

wages are higher for contractors and I seriously doubht you need to set yourself up as a company,Setting yourself up as a sole trader should be sufficent.

I've since turned this job down as Tech Support is painful but now they are offering me an interview for Field Service Eng for Siemens in Dublin. Anyone anything about that? Sounds like alot of travelling and such, pay is 130 a day with 20 euro petrol or something close to that.

Thats strange, I made enquiries about the same job in Dublin and when I answered the question on salary expectations, they told me that 35k I wanted was "way above" the rate for the job. I am surprised that they did not note about the petrol allowance, but I was able to find out that the FSE gets to drive a little Corsa van. Maybe the HR girl gave me the wrong info.
