    Hi

Whats the best way to the point theater from Portlaoise direction? Down the M50? or in thru town? I going to the little britain gig on Saturday which starts at 6.30. What time would I need to be there at to get a parking space?

    Thanks in advance

this is the way i would go:
come off the M50, at the end, northbound, at the malehide road. go straught through the lights at the hilton onto the N32 and turn right at the second roundabout. you now will be in donaghmede, continue to the end of this road (there is a conservatory dealers at the end) and turn left onto the kilbarrack road. go right to the end and turn right. you will now be on the coast road, continue all the way down and turn left at the filter light to the toll bridge (this is signposted), continue past the eastpoint business park and turn left onto the Alexandra Road. you are now in dublin port, continue down to the end and turn right, (dont go into the port).
the point is on the right a little down the road.

    hope this helps

naw....head straight into the M50....go north for one junction and head into the city from there (palmerstown N4) past Heuston station on to the north quays ...keep going staight along the quays, Point is on your left at the extreme end of quay by east link bridge..

Thanks for that corktina. Any idea of traveltime from M50 to the point?

Drive to the end of the M50 and sneak into the Port Tunnel when no one is looking ;)

Seriously though, Corktina, would traffic not be a bit on the heavy side around the quays on a saturday afternoon.

I wouldn't recommend driving as the traffic will be cat. Personally I'd be inclined to drive straight into town and go down the quays (circling at Buaras and taking a left turn at the Talbot bridge) then turning left opposite the toll bridge.

As I said, I would allow about an hr for getting from the Red Cow to the point - if not 2 hrs :(

Better option is to get a train and then LUAS to Connolly station, then walk straight down the quays which is about a 20-30 minute walk I think.

Then get the 21:00 train back home. Or even a bus, which is closer. Better still, drive to Kildare or Naas/Newbridge and get train from there.

What is the latest train back to kildare on a saturday night? I really don't want to drive if at all possible.

Actually where is the station in Kildare? I have never driven there. :) Would the car be safe enough there?

Thanks for the suggestions so far. :)

Get there early if you want to park in The Point as the capacity of the car park as been more than halved. You can park on the quays or there is parking at Jurys Inn (multistory) or at Elegant John bathrooms. It was very busy on the North Wall today ... probably a combination of rush hour, a ferry departure and the Little Britain traffic.
