Diminutive Top Gear presenter Richard 'Hamster' Hammond has been critically injured in a high-speed crash as he attempted a new speed record in Germany.

    Looks bad for him.

Never sure whether I liked him or not. Loved the programs but he reminded me too much of a little twerp I used to know. (unfair maybe). Still you wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I suppose it is better it happened in a test car situation where he would have had a crash helmet, roll cage etc.

    Lets hope he is ok.

BBC News 24 reported that his condition is now stable.

God that's awful, I hope he pulls through, but that link has the tone of an obituary. Hopefully that's not the case.

I think he's a much better presenter than the other 2 clowns on Top Gear.

Sky News has said in the last hour or so that he is in a stabel condition, but still critical.

Hope he pulls through, especially as he has a young family.

I think he was very exposed due to the type of car he was driving ie no rool cage or roof

Oh dear, he apparently has a "significant brain injury". I'm a big fan of Hammond, seems like a nice man and I've always thought him very funny. I hope he recovers.

Mr Hammond, 36, was earlier moved out of intensive care at Leeds General Infirmary, where he has been since Wednesday, and doctors said he is making "satisfactory progress"

Doctors also downgraded his condition from "serious but stable" to "stable".

The doctors treating him have previously said they are "reasonably optimistic" he will make a good recovery.

Hopefully, things are looking up for the Hamster.

talked to one of the guys looking after him - his injuries were not that serious and he was intubated/ ventilated as a matter of precaution. He should make a full recovery .
