Are you allowed take your bike on a DART at any time?

If not, has anyone ever snook their bike on late at night? I imagine you'd be safe enough, right?

    No, they're not allowed.

You might get away with it if you don't have to pass through a turnstile, or by a ticket inspector or if the driver isn't bothered.

Well, I'm pretty sure all of those conditions apply in certain DART stations last thing on Sunday nights. I'll give it a shot...

    How about folding bikes?
If they're not allowed, surely a campaign could be launched to demonstrate the absurdity (loads of people turning up with folding ladders, ironing boards, and whatever else takes up as much room as a folding bike).

nope you cant bring a folding bike either, they aint covered under insurance, i use the commuter to get to different trails and what i do is pop out both wheels bugee them to frame and turn the handle bars to the side and say it is a collection of parts, a always get away with that.
otherwise howth junction ya can just walk on with it they dont give a **** there.
i always say why can a disabled person use it and i cant......i know iknow put its a fair argument, i mean ya need the bike to do the trails which is the sole reason im taking the dam dart/commuter.
other that that get the bus

I'm sure they'd let you take it on if you could prove that your life depended on doing the trails.

Much like on Dublin Bus, bikes aren't officially allowed on Suburban Rail. But, if you just take it on there's a good chance they'll say "Yeah, sure, but if a guy in a wheelchair arrives, get out and don't complain"

Of course, there's exceptions. No-ones going to let you take a bike on the train at rush hour. It just isn't going to happen.

Bikes will be carried free of charge on DART and Commuter services (including Dublin commuter and Cork commuter services) between 10.00hrs and 15.30hrs, and after 19.00hrs, Monday to Friday; http://www.irishrail.ie/news_centre/news.asp?action=view&news_id=987

You dragged up a 5-year old thread to tell us about something Ciarán Cuffe did, even though he hasn't been a TD four over four weeks?

    Pfffft.
