    Hi,
Im thinking about moving jobs to Park west Business park around the red cow and i was wondering if anyone knows whats the traffic like in the morning?

i live in leopardstown at the moment. Im thinking about moving to drumcondra or someplace northside anyway.

Any ideas of what im letting myself in for?
    Thanks

The traffic getting into the park isn't too bad . There are three entrances
one past the prison ( Coldcut Rd ? ) coming from Liffey Valley , one from the Nangor Rd and one from the Kylemore Rd ( I think it's called ). I have never had a problem getting in ( I use the road past the prison ) although it gets a bit hectic round Liffey Valley after about 07:30 with people jumping lights and all sorts.

From Leapardstown you would have to come up the M50 , I believe getting from the Red Cow to the park can be intersting , I have never been that way in the rush hour to be honest.

However getting out can be interesting sometimes .... the prison rd can be backed up all the way to the park , and takes about 15 mins . The Nangor Rd exit is a joke because they have now put lights in there to facilitate the un-used bus lane.

It's a pretty nice place to work all in all however . When the station gets moved it will even have it's own raillink.

Of course if the Luas lines linked up ....... :)

    Thanks a lot david.
Do you mind telling me what area you live in? Or if you know anyone who works there who lives up northside in Drumcondra or Glasnevin and if they have trouble commuting?

I dont think id say where i am if i move there. Possibly soutside like Rathgar/Terenure. possibly Northside to Drumc / Glasnevin

In what way do you mean its a "nice place to work"?
Thanks a lot for your help.

I commute from Beaumont to Park West each morning and evening - through town (phibsboro, north circular, phoenix park, etc) - leave early though (6.50) and it takes about 25 mins - thankfully working for a company with flexi time.

One of the guys in here commutes from Sandyford - again and early starter since road works on or around red cow right now are causing serious delays and with Ryder cup traffice this week he's not a happy camper.

Park west has The Plaza for food and a gym - its clearly not going to have all the mod cons of city centre working but lifeey valley shopping centre is around the corner at lunch if you've forgotten someones birthday.

Thanks a lot for your help.[/QUOTE

Overall its a really nice area. Nice central plaza area with gym, shops, cafe's etc, and nice open spaces. Its nicely landscaped and well laid out.

However. I work just across from it on the Nangor road, and the Nangor road entrance is a nightmare, certainly from the Clondalkin end of the nangor road. I usually get onto the Nangor road from Adamstown/Lucan area (I live in Meath) at about 7.20 and I'm sometimes lucky to be in work by 8, and that is bloody annoying. Like someone else said, they put in a bus lane which is not used and changed a roundabout to a 4 way light controlled junction at Parkwest entrance which has messed things up. 50% of people undertake in the bus lane and it comes to a bottleneck under the M50 bridge causing huge tailbacks.

Regards getting back out again, its again a bit of a nightmare. Coming out to Liffey Valley can be a 20 minute wait to get by the prison. Onto the Nangor road can be about a 15-minute wait, but then you have to contend with getting off the nangor road and onto the naas rd to head for the M50. Getting onto the Kylemore road is easier, but again, thats now light controlled as well, and can cause some bad tailbacks into the estate itself. I reckon the worst part of your journey would be the mile or 2 from the M50 to Parkwest itself. Traffic is quite crappy around here, but not quite bad enough to turn down a good job.

There were mentions of plans to build an exit straight into Parkwest off the M50, but I dont what happened to that plan.

well I live out that neck of the woods and the exits in the evenings always seem to be way worse than in the mornings...

Park West itself is grand as others have said the plaza is nice - if you are a gym go-er you could delay your leaving the park til after your gym - traffic would have died down by then...

If not I'd get in early and get out early traffic definitely build from 4.30 onwards and would be at it's worst by about 6

I'd avoid the red cow (ie having to use the M50) when thinking of a place to live. The Red cow is a nightmare and should be avoided if possible even at 4.30 it's pretty bad (i know someone who leaves work at 4.30 on the long mile road and can still get caught on the red cow)

There is now a new service (the 79a) which goes out there and while not very frequent it's reliable (well as reliable as DUblin Bus) there is also an AMC bus which services the park and there will be a train station (which was due for completion this year but doesn't look like it'll be done (flipping government!)

    Anyway hope that helps!

Used to live in Santry and worked in Park West in 2000/2001. It would usually take at least 30 minutes to get on the M50 going north. In the Winter it often took nearly an hour.
