There is generally a hold'em game every night, and also a round of each - hold'em / omaha.

What do you mean by this?

    Thanks for the info Lloyd!

    No problem mate. To Clarify:

As opposed to No limit Hold'em, there is Pot Limit Hold'em. There is a €50 buy - in game of Pot Limit Hold'em on every night.

However, on most nights a €50 minimum buy - in game of round of each Pot Limit Hold'em / Omaha also gets started. This means that Hold'em is dealt for one round of the button and omaha for the next; etc..

If you have never played a cash game before you will probably have no experience of Pot Limit. It essentially means that the option to simply push your stack in at any given time is not available. Instead you can only ever bet an amnount that equals a call + the amount of the pot after your call.

Example: Blinds are €1/€2. Therefore, the max that UTG can place in the pot is €7. €2 call of the big blind plus €5 bet of the pot = €7. The next player can then call that and also raise the pot etc, etc.

It can get difficult to calculate the pot as the hand develops but you can request the dealer to work it out for you at any given time. Obviously, because the betting structure is so different to No Limit it means that your strategy must be very different and you are required to do a lot more playing and decision making after the flop is dealt.

This can be a significant culture shock for some players who have only ever played no - limit tournaments with a push or fold strategy. You'll hate it for a while, lose money - figure out what you are doing wrong and then begin to love Pot Limit.

Oh I understand pot limit. But I mean, is there no straight holdem games? Or am I going to have to play a round of each? Cause I'm not really bothered with omaha.

There will be tables with Just Hold Em then also possibly a table where hold em and omaha is played for a round of the button

There are several tables of Hold'em only on any given night, and these do not interact with Omaha on any level. There are also distinct games with a round of each as LLoyd is saying, but these are actually not on too often anymore, it is Omaha only almost all the time.

There are usually 2 distinct player pools for the Omaha and Hold'em cash games, with only a few players who play different ones on different nights. I, for example, much prefer Omaha cash games, despite recently getting raped in it.

Omaha is the business, but I was just thinking the other night, that chances are I wouldn't play it either if I had started playing live cash games earlier, as until about 18 months ago there were no Hold'em only cash games in the Fitz, only round of each or the 100 Omaha.

I'm in the same boat as OP here.
I like playin Pot-Limit online but how come there is no No-Limit game in the Fitz?

It has been run a couple of times in the Fitz as a 500 max game I believe, there is not the demand for it though as any night a list is run there are a few names only, but not enough to get the game going.

Anyone know what time the cash games mid-week tend to start? What time do they start putting names on the list? im finishing work late these days and was hoping to be able to pop in for an hour or two around 9 ish as its on my way home....any chance there would be a game going by then?

they can start anytime from around 8.30 - 10.30, depending on demand. Chances are if you go in at 9 it will either be about to start or it will not be too long. Ring them on 6114677 about 8.30 if you are within 30 mins of it, ask for the poker desk and get your name on the list and tell them what time you should be in if one is started already.
