    hi,

I'm going to get broadband for my parents, prob just 1 or 2 MB to begin with with to see if they will use it.

they have an old 333hz IBM computer and I wondering if this will work ok with skype, specifically the video calls as I my sister lives overseas and it would be great for them to call her.

I know the computer is far from ideal, but will it do to begin with. Any suggestions on what to do would be most welcome.

    cheers goreysquirrel

I think Skype recommends at least a 1Ghz processor and Windows 2000 or XP. So don't think that PC will be of any use I'm afraid.

Edit: More info. It probably doesn't have any usb ports, which most web cams require to connect to PC. So that will rule out video. Also many broadband providers will require use of a USB or ethernet port. A PC that old might not have either.

You'd be better off looking for a second hand PC or one of Dell's cheap offerings.
