    Yes. Thats a good start.
It depends what you are interested in:
Sport, News, Porm, Lifestyle, Music etc.
Also if you speak any other languages.
    www.lyngsat.com

About 20 or so satellite positions can be got on an 80cm dish, about 28 on a 110cm dish.

If you only want 4, including Sky a dish with 4 LNBs (singles, Quad or Quatro depending on system) is fast for channel changes. If you want all, add a motek motor for 100 Euro.

The Sky Digibox is not much use for this though, but some 80 Euro receivers will do all the free TV and radio well with signle LNB, diseqc 1.1 switch or diseqc 1.2 +GotoX (USALS) motor.

If one is interested in German or Polish Channels Astra 1 (19 East) is the one of most interest

Hotbird (13 East) caters from a wide range of nationalities it is probably the most "multicultural" satellite

Turksat (42 East) has shiPloads of Turkish channels (although viewers of Kurdish or Armenian extraction might be more interested in Hotbird ) It is fairly low down in the sky though so one needs a clear view of the Southeastern Sky reception of most channels is possible on an 80cm dish (although 90cm provides a bit more margin to avoid breakup on cloudy days)

Astra 2 (28 East) carries a fairly wide range of channels in various Asian languages

There are also other satellites carrying French and Greek and Arabic channels (some of these are duplicated on the aforementioned Hotbird though)

forgive my ignorance, but what do sky dishes point at?

I have a sky dish & sky box and would like to get spanish channels, any suggestions?

    thanks

Buy a different box an dish and point it at the satellite at 30W. Unfortunately the most of "decent" channels need a Spanish subscription (possible)..

The Satellites for Sky are at 28.2E and 28.5, which is nearly exactly south east in Ireland.

The position of the satellite is not the diection of dish. That depends where on the planet you live.

I have a TT3200 card in my comp., and i listen to the radio, while surfing the 'net. My current favourite listening, at the moment, is FIP(part of the Csat bouquet), free to air on Astra 1.
