Wireless Network Adaptor

Im trying to install a Belkin 54G Wireless adaptor on a laptop, but seem to be having some trouble.

Inserting the card, it is detected, but not the usual 2 beeps, but 3 quick beeps. I had this problem with a USB key b4, where it did not work in that particular port, but worked fine in another slot.

I dont have another port to put this network card into, so it has to work in this one. It worked fine until I reformatted the computer and now Im trying to get everything set up, but it's not easy without access to the net.

Anyone else have a problem like this? An ideas on what to do???

    Thanks in advance, Mike

    Is this PCMCIA or USB?
Chck device manager for its listing.

Read the instructions provided for the correct install procedure (Install driver then adaptor... ).

Its PCMCIA. Ive used the drivers and installation software, but it gets to a certain stage then asks to connect the network adaptor.

Its not connecting to the computer properly. Windows beeps to say something has been connected, but its 3 quick beeps, as opposed to the reassuring 2 beeps you get when u connect a usb key.

3 beeps, suggests that Windows knows you just installed new hardware but it cant probe it to find out what it is, and start the driver-install process. First as Karoma said, install the drivers you got with it and then when prompted insert the wireless card. If you still have no joy, then you should check to see if there is a problem with the ports or the hardware itself.
    Right-Click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager (XP/2000)
    Right-Click My Computer > Device Manager (9x).
Check for a red x (disabled) or yellow question mark (problem) beside any devices like your PCMCIA adapter, USB Hub or if it was detected, Belkin Wireless Card.
