What do you think ? It's my first build in quite some time, so any help would be greatly appreciated ! :D

Oh, and I will be getting more RAM as I go along, but 1gig should suffice for a while. Will be using a 20 year old Dell monitor also, 'till I can afford something better. Keyboard will be a Saitek eclipse, mouse is a Logitech G5 and speakers are a nice Altec Lansing set I got a few weeks ago. Headset is a Sennheiser PC 150.

    I like it so far

CPU is good choice. It's what I'm getting.
Motherboard is also a good choice. It's what I have.
Can't go wrong with an LG DVD±RW really.
The case is a matter of personal taste really.
    Hard drive is grand.
Memory is very good. Lots of room for overclocking :D
Not too sure about the chieftec PSU. I'd have rathered seeing a Seasonic/Antec to tell the truth :(
"At the end of the day" it's a solid build!

Nothing majorly wrong with the setup bar the graphics choice don't waste money on the Asus dual GPU mutant is is not worth the money & slower than other cards.

Some GeForce 8 cards will be out in November/December if you are waiting till Christmas then the timing is perfect so wait for those.

I would verify the RAM is compatible with that Giagabyte board there are some issues with certain brands that are resolved with a bios update but you cant update the bios without a working stick of RAM. Though it is Crucial RAM so their is a very good chance it should work.

    Thanks a lot ! :)

I've made a few changes, since this is just my beta...lol.

Firstly, the LG was external so I'm gonna change it to something internal/cheaper. I am going to get a 7900GS until a new card comes out in Christmas or thereabouts, but it won't be the card I said as it would be a bit pointless. At the moment a 7950GT x2 seems a better choice, but I'll see when we get there.

Might change the PSU too, need to sleuthe some more information as its a bit of a black spot to me tbh.

    Thanks a lot ! :D

Edit : Just saw your post 8T8, thanks ! :)

Definitely change the psu. OCZ, Seasonic, Antec or Fortron 500-600w

No need for gx2 unless your monitor supports 1600x1200, upgrade again later if you get a new monitor.

Honestly, I find the armour case pretty noisy with the psu at the top (maybe thats just my ocz psu). The front doors rattle when a disk is spinning, i had to doctor mine to stop rattles. Also the fans will need changing as they're pretty noisy and have a different connection that wont allow you to control them with a normal controller (4pin hd dongle + single controller wire). Other than that its a great case, cool looking with loads of space & great airflow. Just my tuppence worth. Your choice tho.

right firstly, ditch the 1gb of Ram for 2Gb

    http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=312054

It will cost you a bit more and is not as fast but you will notice the diff in gaming, also using the mem dividers will allow to compensate and give some room for o/c

If your going to o/c out of the gigabyte range the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 appears to be the most stable

    http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=323508

Re graphics for the as the asus 7800 you can get this

    XFX GeForce 7950GX2 520M

    http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=321772

    or this

    Club3D Radeon X1950XTX

    http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=324909

Also remember that both Nvidia and ATI will be releasing their DX10 pieces around Q1 07

so you might want to go for this in the interim

    Gainward GeForce 7900GS
    http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=325489

    or

    Sapphire Radeon X1900GT

    http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=320722

or if your going low end try and get this

Inno3D GeForce 7600 GST it's a 7600GS at GT speeds for the price of a GS and the performance of a GT
