I've heard that's an absolute stinker alright.
Worst film of all time: Bless the Child, Kim Basinger.
Couldn't begin to explain how bad it is....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,561 ✭✭✭Rhyme

Aww... i kinda liked the film. Restored some modicum of respect for Hartnet and had some nice lines.

To each their own i guess.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,514 ✭✭✭Rollo Tamasi

it tried so hard to be something it wasn't
slick lines with lock stock n barrell action type filming but it fell on it's arse from the first minute.

terrible acting from everyone in the movie bar Lucy Lui. Even Ben Kingsley was shocking bad in it (what?)

terrible storyline and terrible writing and terrible coincidences and terrible terrible terrrible terrible.

it wasnt the worst movie of all time by far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,501 ✭✭✭Fuzzy_Dunlop

Ah good thing i didn't rent that after all maybe, i was pushing for it with the idea that it was supposed to be good, thankfully my friends were against the idea of it

Yeah i heard it was to be avoided. I just watched what was probably the worst film ever imo. ''Alone in the dark''(christian slater) This should be left alone in the dirtiest corner of xtra vision's store room.

My god i got rightly pissed off at having rented it.

That movie was decent ,Thumbsucker is the worst movie of all time .

Ladies and gentleman, five words : Manos, the Hands of Fate (you tube it). Worst film ever, hands down. Although alone in the dark is well up there (even if it seems like Ran compared to the steaming turd that is Manos).
And thumbsucker i quite enjoyed. tried a bit too hard certainly, but a decent watch. Hardly worst film ever material...

Now imagine how I feel after buying the stupid thing ..... I can see it now looking at me from the shelf nestled smugly in among the other DVD's, laughing at me, laughing at me.

Also whole heartedly agree with "Bless the child".

Im also going to throw in Date movie - I feel like my IQ halved after watching that pile of ****e. I really dont know what I was expecting to be honest .....

Lucky Number Slevin is a brilliant movie.

Now that does look bad, but in sort of an interestingly bizarre kind of way. But Manos puts all the good work achieved by Edward D Wood back decades. Take the following (mystery science theatre version, thank god) example : Manos?
Watch out for a) torgo's knees and b) the director's clear lack of directorial knowledge or indeed basic intelligence. The cuts and redubbing are beautifully horrible to behold.

Zardoz is merely misunderstood and Wicklow looks fantastic in it.

    Mike.

'National Treasure' is the worst film ive seen in the last five years, just stomach churningly bad stuff. I get so worked up when explaining why I think its so bad.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,563 ✭✭✭leeroybrown

I found it rather superficial but I enjoyed watching it. I would say that it's overrated but far from being a bad film.

i didn't want to watch slevin, and I was sorry I had when it was over.

not the worst movie ever though, what about the Core?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 599 ✭✭✭jinxycat

well if your looking for a good movie to watch, i'd recommend FREEDOM LAND.
i thought it was good. seen it the other night.

You know I open a thread like this, expecting to see a movie like Something's gotta give or something...and I see a movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. As tayto say...there's always one.

Anyone else think Brick was crap and massively overrated. Film noir in a highschool ... why? It just looked and sounded ridiculous and the person who cast it should be shot. An insult to the genre of noir ... well at least neo noir anyways!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

    I enjoyed thaty movie

'Lucky Number Slevin' had some great dialogue but that was it... saw the ending coming a mile off. Not necessarily a terrible movie but definitely not as good as everyone hyped it up to be.

'Brick' i thought had great dialogue, acting and most of all - a fantastic noir score. But most of it, it was actually quite an innovative film. One of my favourites of the year - but definintely a love it or hate it kinda film.

But of course, you're picking popular films as the "worst movie in the world ever" - no one ever thinks about that film buried in a vault somewhere that distributors put good hard money towards.. and couldn't face the horror of actually releasing the piece of crap on the public - yes, it's THAT BAD!!..

... no-one ever thinks about THAT film!

    "Right At Your Door"

First 15/20 mins is good. after that you might as well leave and come back about an hour later for the ending, because feck all heppens in between.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I enjoyed Lucky Number Slevin. Saw it in the cinema with no expectations and found it very entertaining. I've lined up Alone in the Dark for my next viewing having heard from many places how bad it is. I kinda liked House of the Dead by Uwe Boll for reasons I do not know, so this will be my next "Boll" experience.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,605 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

My choice of worst movie ever (that actually had a large budget) is definately Revolver. Oh god, what a pretentious piece of crap that was so bad they had to advertise it as a a gangster flick which is just isn't. Surely if they themselves thought it was any good they'd have told the truth and said it was a "spiritual guidence" movie (or whatever it is one could actually describe it as)

My previous most hated movie was Anaconda cause i went to it actually hoping it might be decent but was sorely disappointed. Have seen it since and kinda enjoyed it for what it was, cheesey cliched badness, but so bad twas actually kinda funny (how many times did Jon Voight really need to die?!?)

If anybody wants to see a collection of the worst movies ever just check out the midweek movie on TV3 every Tuesday. Classics include, The Princess and the Marine with one of the guys from Saaved by the Bell, Because Mommy Works and Co-Ed Callgirl (this one in particular since it promises so much yet delivers so little). I'm sure they have another stinker lined up for tonight.

Lucky Number Slevin was worth a watch for Lucy Liu in that short skirt.

Jon Voight is such a hard bastard that he could take 30 rounds from a mac 10 each tipped with nuclear warheads. It's no wonder he keeps coming back for more.

    ...lucky number slevein

    oh my ****ing god

Agree 100% but not the worst film ever IMO.

Alone in the dark is up there all the same

Worst film I think I have seen lately was "Date Movie" or something to like that. I couldn't even watch it to the end.

SAW 2 could join that group too

ah worst movie has to be commando with arnie ... "i eat gu-reen berets for breakfast und i am very hungry"

Ok so watched Alone in the Dark and the story and effects and acting are all pretty poor. I fell asleep watching it so I guess that says it all.

Lucky Number Slevin isn't that bad I thought, not worth buying, but still watchable. The worst movie, of recent times anyway, would have to be either The Descent or Red Eye, they were both just awful films. Cillian Murphy couldn't even bring anything to Red Eye it was so badly written. The Descent: I've never wanted everyone in the film to be eaten by monsters so much in all my life.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Arts Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Entertainment Moderators Posts: 30,020 CMod ✭✭✭✭johnny_ultimate

The Descent bad? Jaysus, I personally was scared s***less throughout. Scariest movie of recent times, deffo.

What's wrong with "lucky number slevin"?! I thought it was a good movie..
Yeah, I'm sure everyone guessed that
the kid at the start grew up to be josh hartnett
but the ending where they explained all the intricisies of the plot was very good imo

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11 gaius

Actually I didn't want to watch "Lucky Number Slevin" but I ended up really liking it.

    Now "Brick" sucked real bad

And my worse movie ever that I compare everything to is "Torque", what a waste of money and time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,228 ✭✭✭bluto63

Naw, the worst film ever is the Stoned Age :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,579 ✭✭✭BopNiblets

    I thought it was Gigli?

Ben Assfleck and J-No Acting Abilities-Lo. *shudder*
    I daren't even watch it.

Lucky Number Slevin was great and hardly the worst ever.

People who use "worst ever" rarely consider that in order to use that word, they'd have to have seen every movie ever made, since the beginning of movies, ever! Dumb.

The only movie that's been mentioned in this thread that I've seen is Brick and I thought it was brilliant. I think the worst movie that I've ever seen is 28 days later. Bad bad bad bad bad bad bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭tvnutz

Lucky Number Slevin was very good!

After all the reviews I was expecting Brick to be great, but it sucked.

Worst movie ever-Dude Where's my car.

Or anything with Rob Schneider as the lead.

    Dude Where's my Car?
    Weekend at Bernie's 2
    Gone Fishin (shudder)
    Fast and Furious/Torque/XXX/all that filth

But the award has to go to "Master of Disguise" with Dana Carvey. Oh. My. God.

(oh - and I liked Lucky Numbr Slevin - and Brick is Class. Top Class in fact. My movie of the year)

I actuallu really liked revolver. I thought the whole thing was brilliantly done. It was jsut sad that it mainly got slated because America expected another Lock Stock film. Meh, to each their own :)

As for worst film: Ninja Hunt. Not many people are unfortunate to have seen it, but by god it hurts!

Watched Brick at the weekend, but I was drinking and chatting so didn't really pay attention. Seemed pretty good but I'll have to watch it again on my own to see the full story.

All those films like Torque, XXX, Fast and the Furious, etc, don't really count as bad movies as they are made that way. They're not trying to be anything other than mindless crap. A proper bad movie is one that should be good, but isn't. Although Gigli wouldn't be in the same category, when you put the mega-awful Ben Afleck and a mindless bimbo like Jennifer Lopez in a film together, then you can't really expect anything other than sh*t.

In that case I nominate Moulan Rouge (sp?), it was played on a transatlantic flight I was on. My mom had Opera on TV and she was going on about how revolutonary and stunning it was etc...

    I liked lucky number Slevin

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,176 ✭✭✭10000maniacs

I have the view that Sleven is a pretty decent movie, if a little contrived.
I have seen a lot worse this year. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish.;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,028 ✭✭✭Carcharodon

Slevin, The pain in watching that.... wanted to walk out of cinema but the people i was with wouldn't.

Not the worst though, one of my most hated films is Pearl Harbour, a disaster within a disaster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 999 ✭✭✭cregser

I enjoyed Slevin too. But I wouldn't watch it again for a few years.

What sticks out for me is Don't Go Breaking My Heart - the very last time I blindly let girls choose the film we were watching.

The 3rd Matrix was also a steaming pile of cack, so guys can get it wrong too.
