    Hi all,

I've just started a Shotokan class in school once a week and I really love it, but unfortunately the class is far too big and we're in the Gym so it's very hard to hear so a lot of time is wasted. I'd like to take up Shotokan properly outside school but Google showed me no classes in the Dublin 6/Dublin 4 area. Ideally I'd like to take it up on a friday after noon sometime around half 2 but because I'm in transition year I have a lot of other time free. So does anyone know of any place that does Shotokan in my area, I'd be very grateful for any help.

Trying searching through this forum for Shotokan. There's a couple of threads about it. I'll have a look in a martial arts magazine in a minute for you. In the mean time I'm sure some other people will have some info.

http://www.ski-ireland.com/ Wow there seems to be loads of Karate organisations out there with loads of different websites (some that don't work). Best try the places the lads above suggested or ask your instructor.

Hi I recommend http://uskf.org/ . you will get the United Shotokan Karate Federation website. When you get the page Click on clubs on the left hand side bar you will get a map of clubs in Dublin and the greater Dublin area complete with contact details. The USKF is Affiliated with the KUGB in The UK and the JKA in Japan and the EU, which means all the Sensei's are Internationally recognised and trained to the highest standard. You can expect to see some of the best karate Ireland has to offer, and learn from the best teachers. The USKF orginises at least one event outside training (Wich is at least twice a week in most clubs) a month including trips to The UK and EU for competitions as well as regular training seminars with renowned teachers. The USKF is a non profit orginisation all the money you pay per class will go towards the rent for the club and towards the various monthly events including fully paid trips to international competitions. Classes cost about 4 or 5 euro and the licence and insurance work out at 30 euro a year. If you want to be part of the best Shotokan has to offer in Ireland with an orginisation which focuses on students not politics or money than Visit the website. PS they don't just hand out Black belts either so you must be prepared to train, But this is made easier by the freindly environment inn which The USKF operates.

PS the USKF as of today has just been invited to participate in the world Championships, THis is very prestigious as only the best Karate orginisations are invited.
