iTunes 7

I have a problem with the new version of iTunes, version7. But before I as for help I'll give you all a warning, DON'T download this crap.

I jumped the gun, downloaded it and have been having problems ever since. These range from not installing properly, slowdown of my system (it's an OK one), inturuptions of songs, crackling of songs, lost mp3's and just now, for no reason, my library is empty (or should I say, iTunes can't detect it), so unless i select each mp3/4 from the folder I can't listen to anything. I'm not the only one having these problems.

    Ok, Warning over.

My problem is when I tried to revert back to iTunes 6 (full uninstall of version 7 via control panel and even deletion of folder in C:drive) I get the message (after Version 6 was reinstalled):

"The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes"

and I can't play any songs.

Any solution, other than using V7, to this problem?

    Thanks

Actually, I'm having the same issues. It's better in many ways, but it stalls a LOT. And a further warning to everyone reading

Don't update your iPod to the new firmware

My iPod now randomly stalls, freezes, or skips onto the next track. It's horrible.

Best of luck in getting back to v6, but I doubt you'll get there...

Can a mod move this back to the original forum, please? As I don't even own an iPod, I don't see what my problem has to do with portable media players.

Maybe try reinstalling it ? I have it running on my desktop and laptop and it runs perfectly on both without so much of a hiccup.

i have itunes 7 on 2 machines as well, while visually it is an improvement, i have found a problem with tracks skipping while playing , like a cd player with a broken laser .
I never heard mp3s skipping before, even early versions, i thought this was a benefit of digital.
And overal the playback on version 6, was a better quality.

Apple announced an update to itunes 7 today - hopefully it solves some of the problems in the original ver 7 release .

People who own iPods would have iTunes and may be more familiar with your problem, hence I think it's in the right forum here. What forum was it in, in the first place?

try getting the newer version as suggested above
I installed that after previously having v6 installed and have had no issues with it.
might be worth running some kind of reg cleaning app before installing it though... I can find out the name of the one I used later if that's any use to you.
(i'm not an itunes fan btw, i only installed it so that i could easily put album art on my new ipod...)
